Medical services

MD Psychiatry course started at MHI , S C B Medical college , Cuttack from 1980 with Two students per year under the Utkal University, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar. The M.D (Psychiatry) seat was increased to THREE (3) in year 2010-11 and was increased to FIVE(5) in year 2016-17.The M.D Degree is recognized by Medical council of India(MCI).

Clinical psychological services have been there since the inception of mental health institute at SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack. The Department of Clinical Psychology was earlier attached to Department of Psychiatry.

Since its beginning, the Mental Health Institute (MHI), Cuttack, Odisha has seen constant steps in the field of social and behavioural sciences. Several novel techniques in the field of social Psychiatry, Psychiatric Social Work and Rehabilitation has been planned and implemented at this institute.

Nursing services have been there since the inception of Mental Health Institute at SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack. The Department of Psychiatric Nursing established by Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha, as per the Centre of Excellence scheme under NMHP.
