Clinical psychology – CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE IN MENTAL HEALTH, ODISHA CUTTACK

HISTORY

Clinical psychological services have been there since the inception of mental health institute at SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack. The Department of Clinical Psychology was earlier attached to Department of Psychiatry. Keeping in view the Rehabilitation Council of India guidelines government have been pleased to create an independent department of Clinical Psychology in MHI, SCB MCH, Cuttack, vide notification no. DC & MA (MH)-07/12-30950/H, dated 27th November, 2012 of Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha.

As per the Centre of Excellence scheme under NMHP RCI approved M.Phil in Clinical Psychology course started from 2013-2014 under Utkal University, Odisha. After successful completion of ongoing M.Phil Clinical Psychology programmes, RCI has given necessary approval for extension from 2018-19 to 2022-23.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Adequate psychological testing materials and therapeutic instruments are available in the department.

The department strictly follows the updated RCI 2016 course curriculum of M.Phil in Clinical Psychology. Lectures, seminar and case conferences are conducted regularly. The department often invites professionals of National and International reputes in the field for guest lectures, workshops, seminars and CRE.
